Lahore: Pakistan Foundry Association (PFA) hosted a business development session with Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) at the PFA head office in Lahore, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the oil and gas sector and local foundries. The session focused on exploring opportunities for indigenizing imported castings by developing them locally, thereby reducing dependency on foreign suppliers and enhancing the country’s industrial self-sufficiency.

Representatives from leading foundries across Pakistan attended the session and welcomed OGDCL’s initiative, terming it a positive step toward empowering the local manufacturing sector. Industry stakeholders highlighted that the localization of such critical components would not only save foreign exchange but also create new business and employment opportunities within the country. OGDCL officials encouraged participants to visit the company’s operational sites to examine components firsthand and assess which parts could be manufactured locally. They emphasized that the company is committed to building strong partnerships with the foundry sector and is keen to provide practical opportunities for local manufacturers to contribute to its supply chain. Speaking at the session, Mr. Asim Qadri, General Secretary PFA, underlined the importance of aligning the foundry industry with the needs of strategic sectors like oil and gas. He noted that initiatives of this nature are crucial for building a sustainable and competitive industrial ecosystem in Pakistan, one that supports economic growth and export potential. The session concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain close coordination in the coming months.

PFA assured OGDCL of the foundry industry’s readiness to meet quality and technical standards, while OGDCL reaffirmed its support for local vendors under Pakistan’s broader vision of industrial indigenization and self-reliance.
